Harris Weiner concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, including contract, real estate, intellectual property, employment, probate and financial disputes. He has tried more than 75 cases for small businesses, individuals, public agencies and banks. Mr. Weiner also advises corporations, LLCs and partnerships on risk management and governance, negotiates leases and contracts, and enforces trademarks and copyrights.
Mr. Weiner has over 37 years of trial, appellate and administrative experience in State and Federal Courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He clerked for Rhode Island Supreme Court and Federal Court judges, was Deputy Counsel to the Governor, Senate Minority Counsel and Executive Counsel for Transportation. He practiced at major Providence and Boston commercial firms prior to opening Harris K. Weiner Law in 2021. His 40 reported cases range from condemnation and construction, to easements, boundaries, titles and mortgages, public contracts and non-competes, professional liability and constitutional law.
Mr. Weiner received the Rhode Island Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award and its Bar Journal Writing Award for his article on Eminent Domain Law. He was also selected for eleven consecutive years as one of the top business litigators in Rhode Island by Super Lawyers® based on peer evaluation and an independent review of his professional achievements. Additionally, he holds Martindale Hubbell’s highest AV® peer rating for legal ability and ethical standards.
A Bowdoin College graduate, he earned an MBA from Bryant College and his law degree with honors from Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Weiner teaches business law at Bryant University and periodically publishes legal, historical and sports articles that reflect his interests, He coached the Providence Country Day School Mock Trial Team to a state championship, promoted voting participation as a member of the Pawtucket Board of Canvassers, and is the past President of the Pawtucket Bar Association, one of the State’s oldest active professional organizations dedicated to continuing legal education.
